Disabled Lifting Equipment at The University of Liverpool
A team of architects has called in OpeMed to design and install 5 accessible rooms for disabled students featuring disabled lifting equipment in a brand new regeneration scheme at The University of Liverpool. The disabled friendly rooms have OT200 ceiling hoists and flexible tracking systems designed by OpeMed’s technical and design teams. The new accommodation “Crown Place” comprises of 3 distinct buildings with 9 storeys for up to 1259 students
Our team of designers and technical engineers produced a range of ceiling track CAD designs to choose from. The architects decided on a subtle H frame system for all 5 of the accessible bedrooms to ensure maximum room coverage from bed to desk and bathroom with the inclusion of disabled lifting equipment etc.
The OT200 Ceiling Hoist can be supplied as a fixed or portable solution. Crown Place selected fixed units for each room to increase the independence 24 hours a day for the student.
The OT200 uses a unique gravity powered system to re-charge whenever in use ensuring the hoist always has power. The hoist and track have a compact design, and blend well into ceilings creating a visually refined appearance- ideal for a University bedroom!
The Crown Place accommodation is designed to achieve BREEM’s excellent standards and has an EPC rating of AA, striving to create an inspired environment for the students to live in.
