Atlantic Racquet Centre

The Atlantic Racquet Centre (ARC) is a brand new community racquet and fitness centre where everyone can exercise, socialise and learn together. The volunteer led facility is focused on improving the health and wellbeing of all local people.

As a community resource the intention was always to install a Changing Places Toilet to make it accessible for as many people as possible. The whole centre has been built through the hard work and determination of its members through fund raising and donations, which is still ongoing and have just completed phase 3 of the build.

THE SOLUTION

We supplied a height-adjustable changing table suitable for use with a shower, and a height-adjustable washbasin with integral mirror and soap dispenser, specifically designed for use in public Changing Places Toilets. The room was slightly larger than a standard Changing Places Toilet, which allowed for a spacious shower area with shower seat.

The installation of the Changing Places Toilet has made it easier for those attending the Atlantic Racquet Centre’s inclusive racquet sport sessions. These sessions cater for children and adults with physical and learning disabilities as well as for those with mental health conditions. The ARC also offers specific sessions for those with Down Syndrome and is planning to offer them for people with Autism and similar conditions in the near future.

In facilities where a shower is needed, the Astor CTX2-CP is a perfect choice with its integrated water collection tray and drain hose to direct waste water directly to a floor drain.
