GUEST BLOG: Kerry Thompson Welcomes in the New Year!
Happy New Year hope everyone had a wonderful festive season!
As we’ve said goodbye to the end of a decade welcoming in the 20’s I want to share with you all my highlights of 2019. It’s definitely been a whirlwind of a year, an amazing year.
The beginning started off with a bang I finally got share with the world that I’d been working alongside Tesco, OpeMed and many others in an incredible project with Tesco launching over 35 new Changing Places facilities within their store across the Country.

“Tesco launching over 35 new changing Places facilities within their store across the Country.”
This year I hit the big 4-0 and definitely took it better than turning 30! I have joined an advisory board with Habinteg Association on their campaign for better accessible housing, the MDBloggersCrew (a Twitter group of 5 of us, all with a form of Muscular Dystrophy) grew from strength to strength. OpeMed also asked if I wanted to be a guest blogger on thier website.
I was invited to be an Ambassador for Purple Tuesday; an international call to action to celebrate the purple pound (the spending power of disabled people and their families). I truly believe that every day should be a Purple Tuesday day.
A Multi-award Winner
I became a multi-award Winner my first award was the BBC’s Three counties Choice award for Diversity and Equality, my second was Muscular Dystrophy Uk President‘s awards for Campaigner of the year. I was named on Shaw Trust 100 power list Britain’s most influential disabled people.
It totally feels like I’m living somebody life at some point they are going to want their life back I’m sure! never in a million years did I ever think or thought that anyone would nominate me for anything I choose to do what I do not for recognition but for those that have no voice I don’t want someone like myself still fighting in 10 years for a world that’s inclusive for ALL.
Until next time,
Kerry.
